Carbon Zapp DS2R-A
Device for cleaning and testing of
electromagnetic and piezoelectric
Common Rail injectors:

resistance above 2.5 Ω, 2- and 4-pin

Carbon Zapp DS2R-A had a world
premiere at the Automechanika fairs
in Frankfurt in September 2014 and
replaced the older model Carbon Zapp
DS2i.
Carbon Zapp DS2R-A has the same
efficient internal cleaning function
as CRU2R, but its capabilities in
the field of injector testing are
limited compared to CRU2R. Only CRU2R has advanced
measuring system capable of
accurately measure all doses
including the injection of small
pilotage doses.
DS2R-A contains built-in database,
covering most of the parameters of
injectors, but the measurement is
done by filling of glass cylinders.
Read of the parameters is done by
the user himself. As a result of a
lack of electronic measurement, it
is not possible to carry out test in
a completely automatic mode or print
it just as it is and the measurement
is not as accurate.
There is however the possibility to
manually transfer the data from the
volumetric tubes to the built-in
tablet inside of the device and
therefore print the protocols. Some
advanced features may not be
available in DS2R also. The device
is not suitable for generating of
new codes for the injectors.
Due to these limitations, the Carbon
Zapp DS2R-A is treated as used mainly
for cleaning and preliminary testing
of the injectors.
DS2R-A is suitable as a base device to
connect UIPR attachment for
servicing unit injectors.
DS2R-A with volumetric tubes in
conjunction with UIPR mainly
provides professional cleaning of
unit injectors, and preliminary test
on volumetric tubes. More details can be found
in the section "Zapp UIPR".
The following tests can be carried
out on Carbon Zapp DS2R-A:
▪ leak test and examination of
return volume with no electrical
steering
▪ test for electrical parameters,
such as: resistance, inductance,
capacitance
▪ test the injection doses at
several points depending on the load
▪ the injector opening pressure
measured with current profile
▪ the injector response time in µs
from its electrical signal to the
actual opening. In addition, the
device counts the impulses and
checks whether the generated current
signal corresponds to the number of
actual injections.
It is possible to test Common Rail
injector spray pattern in a
specially prepared for this glass
spray chamber.
In addition with DS2R-A there is also
delivered 1.5 liter ultrasonic bath.
DS2R-A device has a
built-in tablet with Android.
DS2R-A kit contains harnesses and
adapters necessary for connecting
electrics and hydraulics of
injectors from passenger cars.
Warranty: 2 years.
You can connect DS2R-A to an
attachment for cleaning and
preliminary testing of the complete
unit injectors named Carbon Zapp
UIPR.
The device has additional equipment,
including metal portable stand.
Carbon
Zapp DS1R
Carbon Zapp DS1R is a simplified version of the device DS2R. DS1R device has been designed for simple tests of injectors based on a static weight measurement of injection doses. DS1R is not suitable for making new codes, and its accuracy is not sufficient for a full diagnosis of Common Rail injectors. DS1R is a device which, because of its low price can be regarded as the first device for the customer in the diesel business or can serve as an initial test platform in order to eliminate the major injectors failures like external leakage, big return flow etc. It can also be used in car workshops for the first assessment of the injectors, as well as Bosch EPS 118 tester.
